Seth Godin views 3 basic principles of marketing in his publications:

The First: The end of the TV-Industrial complex. It means, that sellers cann't control the attentions of any persone they want to.
The Second:At tne market, where consumers bacome more powerful, sellers should treat with their respect. It means no spam, no slyness and avoiding promises.
The Third: The only way to spray the information about one idea is to make the idea unique. Ha calls outstanding products or services of the "Purple Cow". There is a template of Purple Cow in Sunnyvalle's hall in Yahoo!.
Radio and TV advertisment is classified by Seth as an overage marketing, which is diverting a consumer when he is taking care about his business. Therefore Godin introduce the concept of confidential marketing, where a business offers the customer someting with high value , therefore, it tries to get the trust and in further to do the marketing.
